HOME TO CLARE

Meet your Ross Tour Leader Paula Benneian at Sydney Airport for your Qantas flight to Adelaide or meet in Adelaide. Our destination this afternoon is the picturesque Clare Valley. Here, a patchwork of farmland seamlessly blends into rows of vines, elegant eucalypts and natural bushland. Check into our hotel for two nights and soak in the bucolic rural setting. Welcome dinner together tonight.

DAY 2 WEDNESDAY 2 SEP (B/L/D) 
BUNGAREE STATION

Bungaree Station was established by George Hawker and his brothers in 1841. It became headquarters of an extensive sheep station with 100,000 merino sheep by the 1880s. It is a self-sufficient village with a beautiful sandstone homestead at its heart. Lunch at Paulett Wines, with spectacular views of the Clare Valley.

CLARE TO MARREE

Travel north to the desert oasis of Parachilna. First licensed in 1876, the Prairie Hotel is an iconic outback destination, renowned for its innovative menu, perfect for lunch. The Lyndhurst Ochre Cliffs are an important site for local Adnyamathanha people, quarried for thousands of years, the ochre was traded far north to the Northern Territory and Queensland, and south to the coast. Continue to Marree our home for the next two nights. Dinner included tonight.

DAY 4 FRIDAY 4 SEP (B/D)
MARREE

Maree is a fascinating town to explore, full of local history. Nearby is Kati Thanda– Lake Eyre, Australia’s largest salt lake, the best way to appreciate its incredible colours and patterns is from the air. Option this morning to take a scenic flight over the lake (at own expense). Later we’ll drive a little of the famous Birdsville track. Dinner included tonight.

DAY 5 SATURDAY 5 SEP (B/L/D) 
MARREE TO WILPENA POUND

Travel into the ancient gorge country of the Flinders Ranges-Ikara National Park. Morning tea stop under the River Red Gums in rugged Parachilna Gorge. Enjoy lunch in the historic copper mining town of Blinman before we head into Wilpena Pound. Photo stop at a rocky ridge geological feature known as The Great Wall. Check into the Wilpena Pound Resort for 3 nights. Dinner is included tonight.

DAY 6 SUNDAY 6 SEP (B/L/D) 
WILPENA POUND
A local guide joins us today to explore this vast and ancient landscape including Bunyeroo Valley and Brachina Gorge with iconic landforms, unique geology and wildflowers; landscapes that inspired artists including Sir Hans Heysen. Photograph the Cazneaux Tree, a solitary river red gum made famous in 1937 by Australian photographer Harold Cazneaux. Dinner is included tonight at our resort.

DAY 7 MONDAY 7 SEP (B/L/D) 
WILPENA POUND

Delve into the heart of Adnyamathanha country today where a local guide shows us ancient and culturally significant sites. Reflect on the day during a ‘Sunset Tour’ to watch changing colours of this vast ancient landscape of Wilpena and the Flinders Ranges from a panoramic viewing platform with drinks and canapes. Dinner is included this evening at our resort.

DAY 8 TUESDAY 8 SEP (B)
ARID LANDS BOTANIC GARDEN

Travel south this morning to Port Augusta to visit the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden. Then onto the historic town of Quorn. Once an important town at the junction of the Sydney-Perth and Adelaide-Darwin railways, Quorn is now a popular film set location. Stay overnight in Quorn to see the Silo Light Show.

QUORN TO ADELAIDE

Travel to Adelaide with a stop in Snowtown, on the South Australian Silo Art Trail. Arrive in Adelaide, check in to our hotel in the centre of the city. Farewell Dinner tonight at the hotel.

Free morning in Adelaide. Early afternoon transfer to Adelaide airport for your flight home.
